Quint Boa is the founder of Synima, a video and animation agency he built from a two-person studio in London into a 50-person operation spanning four cities. Synima’s clients include JP Morgan, the European Commission, and Fortune 500 healthcare brands. Quint is also a psychotherapist with over 30 years of clinical experience, and he brings a rare perspective on leadership: the stories we tell ourselves matter as much as the stories we tell everyone else.
Quint’s crucible hit in 2016. His largest client was the European Commission, producing videos across 27 languages about the benefits of the EU. When the Brexit vote came in, the work evaporated within 24 hours. Cash flow dropped to a trickle while labor costs stayed fixed. Quint had failed to see it coming, and the weight of that landed hard.
What followed was an identity crisis. The company’s success had become inseparable from his own. When the business cracked, so did he. He started drinking too heavily, caught himself in a downward spiral, and eventually got sober. Then he pivoted — hard. JP Morgan asked him to expand to New York. He opened an office in Amsterdam to salvage European clients. And he bet big on animation as Adobe After Effects matured and clients started needing it to explain increasingly complex products and services.
Then COVID hit and dispersed his entire team across Europe permanently. Then AI came for the creative industry faster than anyone expected. Each time, Quint rebuilt.
Today Synima is leaning full force into AI-generated video and animation, working on everything from hybrid AI/traditional animation workflows to reanimating deceased company founders for AGMs. Quint is also on a mission to get charities and NGOs to wake up to what AI video can do for fundraising and mental health education.
